(April 23, 2018) – Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is pleased to announce the Blu-ray™ and Digital release of LOVELESS, Russia’s Academy Award® Nominee for Best Foreign Language Film, on June 12. Directed and co-written by Andrey Zvyagintsev, whose last film, Leviathan, also received an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, LOVELESS is a heart-breaking story of a couple whose bitter divorce leads to the disappearance of their son. Their subsequent search for him will provide provocative insights into their loveless marriage, current Russian culture and modern society in general. LOVELESS stars Aleksey Rozin (Leviathan) and Maryana Spivek (Vasiliy Stalin) as the uncaring parents and Matvey Novikov in an impressive debut performance as their neglected son. In addition to the Academy Award nomination, LOVELESS won the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, is Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with an impressive 93% critics consensus and an 8.2 average rating, was nominated for the Golden Globe, BAFTA and Independent Spirit Awards for Best Foreign Language Film and was awarded 2 European Film Awards. Synopsis
Zhenya and Boris are going through a vicious divorce marked by resentment, frustration and recriminations. Already embarking on new lives, each with a new partner, they are impatient to start again, to turn the page – even if it means threatening to abandon their 12-year-old son Alyosha. Until, after witnessing one of their fights, Alyosha disappears …
