SEOUL, KOREA – August 24, 2017 – Netmarble Games Corp., the fastest-growing mobile game company in Asia, today announced that its mobile MMORPG Lineage2 Revolution launched in Japan on August 23, and ranked No.1 in the local App Store’s grossing chart in just 18 hours of its release.

Lineage2 Revolution is a free-to-play mobile MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) based on the popular PC online game IP “Lineage2.” The game, which was developed with the Unreal 4 engine, stays true to its PC original, as it displays a stunning open field, raid, castle siege, characters, and classes in the mobile environment.

Lineage2 Revolution debuted in both Google Play and the App Store in Japan at 12PM on August 23, and dominated the top grossing chart in just 18 hours on the App Store, which provides real-time ranking information. Lineage2 Revolution also set a new record by becoming the No. 1 grossing game in the shortest time among the Korean games launched in Japan. The game is expected to make a strong presence on Google Play, once the system renews and reflects the latest figures.

Even before its official debut, there were signs of Lineage2 Revolution’s strong performance in Japan, one of the world’s largest mobile gaming markets. The number of pre-registered players reached 1.63 million on August 22, which was an outstanding record in Japan, where many anticipated games are content with winning several hundred thousand pre-registered players.

Lineage2 Revolution was No.1 in the free download charts on both Google Play and the App Store on August 22, when the game became available for pre-download.

With Lineage2 Revolution’s popularity in Japan, Netmarble has already increased 20 additional servers, enabling the players to have a brand-new gaming experience seamlessly on a total of 60 servers, and will reinforce more, if needed.

As of August 24, the game’s average player review score is strong, marking 4.4 stars on the App Store and 4 stars on Google Play out of 5.0.

Meanwhile, Netmarble’s strategic localization is considered as one of the keys to Lineage2 Revolution‘s success in Japan. The company joined hands with famous voice actors, underscored clan systems, and introduced a card-type monster guidebook.

With its accomplishment in Japan, Lineage2 Revolution continues to be one of the most successful mobile games in Asia. After becoming a smash-hit mobile game in Korea, Lineage2 Revolution launched in 11 Asian countries back in June, and still remains the highest grossing game in many countries, including Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Lineage2 Revolution is expected to roll out in the western market, including the U.S., in the second half.
