Unreal Engine 4.15 Preview 1 now available (and a bevy of other things Epic Games related)

The first preview of Unreal Engine 4.15 is now available and introduces loads of useful new features and improvements for developers! UNREAL ENGINE 4.15 PREVIEW 1 NOW AVAILABLE
Epic has released Preview 1 of Unreal Engine 4.15, which introduces several new features and improvements for developers! Updates include changes to the build process, reroute nodes for the Material Editor and a production-ready version of the Blueprint to C++ cooking feature.

Developers can download Preview 1 through the Epic Games Launcher, while a breakdown of the release can be found on the Unreal Engine forums here.

EPIC AND WELLCOME LAUNCH A $500,000 DEVELOPMENT COMPETITION


Epic Games and Wellcome have announced Developing Beyond, a year-long competition that challenges European developers with building the foundations of a game. Throughout the competition, the selected teams will receive funding to create a Minimum Viable Product which incorporates the theme of Transformation. The winning team will receive a grand prize of $150,000 and will be announced January 2018. In total, Epic and Wellcome are allocating $500,000 for funding of the games and the prize pool.

TIM SWEENEY TO BE HONORED WITH LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD AT GDC 2017


Organizers of the 17th annual Game Developers Choice Awards will be honoring Tim Sweeney with this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award. As the founder and CEO of Epic Games, Tim’s career has been filled with numerous milestones including the development of ZZT, Unreal Tournament and numerous Unreal Engine releases.

Taking place during GDC 2017 on Wednesday, March 1, passholders are invited to attend. The awards will also be livestreamed on GDC’s official Twitch channel.
