Strikers Edge

Strikers Edge
Strikers Edge

In summary, Strikers Edge is a fun game to play. I am looking forward to playing the 2v2 mode with a friend. But this isn’t a game I can see myself sinking my teeth into. It is a game where I can play for an hour a day and then move on. Within that hour though, you will have an exciting experience.

If you can dodge a sword then you can dodge a ball.

The game that is self proclaimed as “dodge brawl” is an exciting experience that will have you on edge. There is nothing more satisfying than winning a round of Strikers Edge. A single round of the game is one of the most intense events in gaming you will face.

Strikers Edge is a very fun game at its core. The gameplay is exhilarating, you need to be weary of everything going on. While you are shooting, watch out for your opponents shooting. Hopefully your projectile will hit theirs in the air and you will be safe. One feature to highlight is when a character’s health is low, there will be a slow motion sequence when a weapon is thrown. In this sequence, the character has a chance to dodge and stay safe, or get a face full of swords. The combat is thrilling and will have you sweating each match.

You would think that a “dodge brawl” game would not have character depth. Strikers Edge
offers eight different characters with their unique move sets along with an interesting
backstory to boot. A thing to note about the characters is that each character could be
considered good or bad. Within the campaign, the characters’ interactions with each other will
display to you how every character is flawed.

The move sets for each character are fun in their own way. For example, the ninja character
Haru will hurl throwing stars at the opponent. With his charge attack, he throws a kunai with a chain. If the
hit successfully lands, you can add a combo attack where Haru will move onto the other side of
the arena and execute a close combat attack, adding extra damage. Each character has abilities
that are similar to this, but different enough that will make you want to test out others and see
who you will stick with. Also every character has their own block move. Galad, the knight, uses
his shield to deflect the attack back at the opponent. Tamsin, the spell fencer, and Eir, the
Valkyrie, are able to heal themselves. When you are playing against those two, the healing
become annoying and frustrating, making it seem impossible to take them down.

In Strikers Edge, there is a campaign mode, but it barely scratches the surface with the
characters. It seemed like all it was, was fighting. Maybe that is what they are going for, but
without an engaging story, the gameplay becomes repetitive.

My main gripe about the game was the difficulty. I was playing on normal mode, and I was
getting my ass handed to me. In the third round of fights in the campaign, I was faced against
two opponents. To say the least, I did not make it to the next round. The game being to hard,
became frustrating, as I got annoyed with losing. To me, it seems like the computer needs to be
taken down a notch.
