It’s worth noting that most of Sid Caesar’s work occurred before I was born. Prior to viewing The Works, I only knew Caesar as Coach Calhoun in Grease/Grease 2 and Mr. Ellis in Vegas Vacation. For those who aren’t sure who Mr. Ellis is, he was the elderly man at the end of movie who lets the Griswolds have his winning keno ticket.

With that said, I did enjoy The Works. Despite the generational gap, I found Caesar to be hysterical and two of my favorite sketches were At The Movies and The German General. As I watched Caesar’s performances there was a consistent theme in his brand of comedy that I found incredibly funny, much like in the films Grease/Grease 2 and his “dying” performance in Vegas Vacation.

Sid Caesar: The Works is a perfect collection of comedic performances for die-hard Caesar fans and nostalgic comedy fans.
