Silicon Valley: The Complete Fourth Season

The complete fourth season of Silicon Valley once again reinforces why this is an Emmy nominated series. Season four picks up right where season three left off, just like every season. This season focused on the characters individual lives more, rather than just the team as a whole. The triumphs the team goes through this semester will keep you laughing through all 10 episodes. This HBO series is packed with comedy gold, giving the individuals in this industry a relative show about the small start up guy, struggling for funds, in the tech industry.

“Change is in the air as the Pied Piper guys pursue their video-chat app, PiperChat, but Richard (Thomas Middleditch) has a hard time letting go of his dream to put his algorithm to better use. Dinesh (Kumail Nanjiani) flirts with notoriety, while Gilfoyle (Martine Starr) looks on in amusement. Erlich (T.J. Miller) searches for the next big break, Jared (Zach Woods) tries to pivot with the company, and Big Head (Josh Berner) enters the world of academia. The big ideas and even bigger egos of that special place called Silicon Valley make for comedy gold in this Emmy nominated series from Mike Judge and Alec Berg.” -Official Description

Mike Judge and Alec Berg bring us yet another great season of this Emmy nominated comedy back to HBO for its fourth season.  No surprise, just like the last season did this one picks up right where we left off the previous year in season three.

Season Four kicks off with Pied Piper officially being recognized for PiperChat, the video-chat app Dinesh invented. The app is highly successful and gaining a lot of attention from users. Although the app is a success, the team is desperately trying to fund it, based on actions from the previous season; the team is facing financial turmoil. Richard decides he is no longer willing to be the CEO of a project he doesn’t believe in.  He looses all interest when he finds a new passion that he can’t get enough of, an equal, decentralized Internet for the world.

Just as the team is about fed up with Richard and wants to replace him with Big Head, he quits and drains his equity.  Richard agrees to keep letting the team use the algorithm in their video-chat platform, as long as he gets to use it also and keep the Pied Piper brand. Dinesh was Richards suggestion for the new CEO of PiperChat.  This is where Dinesh’s life gets very interesting.  He gets a new hairstyle, many new business opportunities, and he even gets himself a girlfriend (even if she is a super hacker). Now that Big Head finds himself without a job, he decides to enter the world of academics.  Jared though is the only team member who seems to be completely heartbroken over Richard leaving the company. Lets not forget when he sacrificed a huge paycheck from Hooli to work for Richard instead.  I am sure you are wondering what Gavin Belson and Jack Barker are up to in this season? Well, Gavin Belson and Jack Barker return from China after landing a deal to manufacture Hooli Endframe’s product there, but unfortunately things take an unexpected turn of events. Gavin goes through a lot this season, from losing his job, to losing his mind, having a blood boy, then completely dropping off the map, he keeps you entertained.
