Once Upon a Deadpool

Once Upon a Deadpool
Once Upon a Deadpool

A fairytale twist on the action movie Deadpool 2.

Release Date:, Genre:Rating:Developed By:Publisher:

Once Upon A Deadpool opens with a grown man, Fred Savage, in a children’s room but not just any children’s room. The room is the exact same room Fred Savage heard the story of “The Princess Bride” in when he was a little boy. In the film, Deadpool starts off by telling the story of “Deadpool 2″ the movie. The movie starts off with an action-packed intro with ends with the death of Deadpool’s first love. After he wants revenge on the people that do this to him and ends up killing them. Once he realizes he is lonely now, he also wants to die so he can be with his first love. Throughout the film, he tries many different ways to die and almost succeeds but once he sees his first love in heaven she says he needs a change in good heart before it’s time to reunite. The fairy tale twist was a good idea but it wasn’t executed the best. Going back and forth and adding in humor and telling the story made the film seem choppy. Due to the storytelling aspect, this didn’t allow them to introduce each character which made some areas confusing.

Next, Deadpool helps a boy in an orphanage that has powers, Fire Fists. Once Deadpool figures out the boy has been abused he kills the people that did this to him. Quickly after Deadpool and Fire Fist are arrested and taken to prison. Deadpool gets out of prison and once he does he realizes he needs to get the boy out of there too. Deadpool is on a mission and hires a team of people to help him save the boy from Cable, a potential villain. It turns out that the enemy isn’t Cable anymore. The true villain is Juggernaut and Fire Fist because they are on a mission to burn down the orphanage and get revenge for how they treated Fire Fists when he was there. While these were action-packed scenes there wasn’t an introduction for Fire Fists or Cable which lead to me trying to figure out why these two characters hated each other. The storytelling aspect of these specific scenes was extremely choppy and interrupted with humor which made the story of Deadpool 2 confusing.

While the movie does end with a happy ending where Deadpool saved Fire Fist and showed him that people care about him which in return allowed Deadpool to die and go to heaven and see his first love. Cable reversed the time and ended up saving Deadpool’s life and everyone was friends in the end. I personally liked this part of the film because it created a perfect storybook ending. Even though the film was supposed to follow a storybook layout to give it a family feel. It still contained some inappropriate language, sexual insinuations and was overall confusing. Deadpool 2 as a movie is interesting and makes sense but breaking it up with the storytelling aspect and humor outside of Deadpool 2 made it choppy and confusing.

Audio:

The audio is presented in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.0 on the Blu-ray disc and Dolby Digital 5.1 on the DVD disc. Both audio tracks sounded great. In action films, I believe it is important to have good audio throughout the film so you can get the full effect in the action scenes.

Special Features:

At the end of the film, they included the credits but halfway through they had a scene where Deadpool and Fred Savage were talking in the bedroom. This was a fun twist to the end of the film because almost all superhero films include scenes of the next film at the end of the credits. This was Deadpool’s version of making that humorous
