I didn’t get much done it Dead Rising 2. I played it for a good while, longer than most other games on the show floor, but I couldn’t be bothered to meet a goal when I was having so much damn fun screwing around. Every game has that fresh new car smell that you exploit before eventually growing bored, but Dead Rising 2 failed to hit that infamous mark during my considerable time with the game. I b...[Read More]
Okami could be counted amongst my five favorite PlayStation 2 titles. Both before and after its release, there was nothing out there like it. Zelda comparisons were easy and I suppose they were true from a structural standpoint, but Okami’s lore was all its own. Still, even with the Wii port a few years down the road, it was hard to say the drawing mechanic felt natural, precise, or intuitive. It ...[Read More]
A few months ago Ninja Theory’s inevitable Heavenly Sword follow-up was revealed under the guise of Enslaved. While the name left a little to be desired, the wildly imaginative art direction spoke for itself. Post-apocalyptic settings have been done to death, so it was refreshing to see a slightly different take on the aesthetic. Enslaved screens exposed a ruined landscape ripe with lush, vibrant ...[Read More]
Thirty seconds into Splatterhouse is enough to convince anyone it’s a title worthy of the macabre name. Almost immediately you character, a tall burly fellow by the name of Rick, is going to be completely saturated in blood, and the carnage seems to follow him in and out of every room. The new Splatterhouse played like a brawler, a satisfying beat ‘em up with all the bells and whistles of a modern...[Read More]

NBA Jam finally gets a proper revival on the Wii, and all of the roots are intact. Just about everything is the same as before: two-on-two arcade basketball action featuring ridiculous over the top dunks, shoving, catching fire, and of course, boom-shaka-laka. Yes, it’s in there.
I got my hands on Super Scribblenauts today for a few minutes and was able to address many of the hopes/questions that I had about the game. First of all, right off the bat, the developer mentioned the improved controls. Though the touch screen controls still felt a little lax at times, I was thrilled to be able to pause the game and change to button controls at my desire and this immensely helped...[Read More]
If I were to honestly say what I’ve been thinking about Sonic 4 after watching all the trailers leading up to E3, being completely honest with myself, I’d say that this game is a lost cause. It’s an earnest attempt on Sega’s part to win back older fans of the series, but ultimately it’s a fool’s errand. So today when I finally got a chance to sit down with the g...[Read More]
Spider-man is back in Spider-man: Shattered Dimensions. Unlike Friend Or Foe previously from Activision, Shattered Dimensions is a single player Spider-man game in which players get to control Spider-man in three different forms in four different realms. Playable versions of Spidey include the Amazing Spider-man, Noir, and 2099 ones. Gameplay varies greatly between these different Spider-mans. The...[Read More]
When Midway went under, the fate of the Mortal Kombat license was in limbo. Warner Bros wisely snatched up the license and now it looks like we’re in for the most compelling Mortal Kombat title in years. Shown behind closed doors, Mortal Kombat (a working title I’m sure), is coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3. The series has returned to its ultraviolent roots, and I can tell you that it...[Read More]
Steve and I got to take some time playing co-op on Donkey Kong Country Returns today. Aside from the initial shock that we had amidst its announcement earlier at the Nintendo Media Briefing I was extremely pleased with the overall product available on the E3 show floor. Garnering classic Donkey Kong Country 2D gameplay coupled with beautiful 2.5D aesthetics, the game also added a few extra feature...[Read More]
I played through the E3 demo of Tecmo’s Quantum Theory, a new third person shooter for the Xbox 360 and PS3. I didn’t get much out of the story for Quantum Theory, but two factions are involved in a war. The E3 demo gets players right into the action. Along with a co-op AI partner, you must clear out part of a very organic looking area that is changing (a little) as you move through it...[Read More]
