The bad news: Three times was definitely too many for this franchise. The good news: This installment actually plays better on DVD than it did in the theater. At least, it’s better than I remember it being.
Night at the Museum is a great good time, for both adults and kids. (I saw it in the theatre with my 12-year old nephew and we both loved it.) And, the extras on this special edition release just make a good thing better.
The 1999 movie House on Haunted Hill was basically just a gore fest. The plot was thin at best (a millionaire offers a group of people $1 million each, if they can survive the night in a former mental asylum), but people watched it. The one really good thing about it was that it had a good cast, headed by Geoffrey Rush.
The fifth movie from the fifth book of Harry Potter may be the best one yet. Let me explain further.
When I first heard of this movie, I mistakenly assumed that it was just another sappy inspirational sports story. Technically, Gracie is an inspirational sports story, but it manages to avoid coming off as sappy. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I popped the DVD into the player and found that I actually enjoyed the movie.
I never knew that such a show could survive so long. On and off from the beginning of the show itself, Family seemed to get more and more offensive as the seasons grew on. In volume five of Family Guy, you get even more crude humor and, for the most part, it’s very welcomed.
The Tick remains as one of my all time favorite cartoons. It was so original, funny, well animated, and perhaps most importantly, it’s as appealing to me today as it was over ten years ago. The Tick finally came to DVD in a two disc set last year, but the event was bittersweet: on one hand, fans rejoiced at finally having The Tick officially coming to DVD. On the other, the set was lackluster; it ...[Read More]
When hear the name ‘Space Ghost’ today, most think of the hilarious Cartoon Network Show, Space Ghost Coast To Coast. Most people do not know, however, that Space Ghost, Moltar, and Zorak played much different roles in 1966. Space Ghost was a courageous space hero, constantly being challenged by foes including the likes of Zorak and Moltar. There was also another series at the time that aired alon...[Read More]
Comics are one of those entertainment media whereby I am a fan of, and I do have a monthly reading list, but I’m not all that familiar with the classic characters, including Dr. Strange. Dr. Strange, to me, is a very interesting and cool character; one that I used pretty often in Marvel Ultimate Alliance when I played through it on the PS3 early this year. Now, Marvel and Liongate have released an...[Read More]
I was one of the many that saw Live Free Or Die Hard this summer and loved it. In fact, I love all of the Die Hard movies, although my favorite would have to be Die Hard 2. Anyway, 20th Century Fox was kind enough to send us a DVD collection they released around the time of Live Free’s theatre debut, simply entitled the Die Hard Collection. This was a pretty obvious attempt to cash in on the movie...[Read More]
When I was younger, I loved cartoons. Heck, I still love them, but finding great cartoons is much more of a challenge and rarity anymore. A substantial part of my DVD viewing is viewing older cartoons, from the heyday you might say. These include the likes of the Looney Tunes, The Tick, The Superfriends, Batman The Animated Series. There was always another series that I never got around to seeing ...[Read More]
You know I go back to some of my favorite movies from the 80s and 90s, and now that I’m older, they can be hard to watch. Back then I took in the action without a great deal of thought and just basked in the over-the-top action. Nowadays I’m much more apt to question the realism of things, all the while keeping in mind it’s just a movie of course, and I’ll even get a chuckle out of myself at parts...[Read More]
