Particle physicists, unite! CBS’ new series is without a doubt the smartest sitcom out there.
From 20th Century Fox comes a film about what not to do while you’re in Vegas. Unless you actually run into Cameron Diaz. Then, you definitely do it anyway.
Late in 1995, director Oliver Stone released a powerful biography of former President Richard Nixon in his very successful film, Nixon. Six years ago, the Collector’s Edition DVD was released, but now Walt Disney Video has taken this election year as an opportunity to re-release the film as the Election Year Edition on Blu-ray and DVD. We received the DVD in for review, and I’ve just recently comp...[Read More]
Rarely do we actually get to sit down and review special re-releases. When paramount released their I Love the 80's collections, I just had to beg. So without further delay, let's rock this motha out! Some Kind of WonderfulHmmm.... how does one describe this movie. The best way to describe it is to simply say it's the most relaxed, tension filled, film in some time. Featuring an all-star cast ...[Read More]
Ni hao. I chose to watch this DVD in Chinese with English subtitles to add to the adventure of action director Stephen Chow's first children's film. Our protagonist, Dicky Chow (played by Xu Jiao), is a small private school student who arrives rather dirty each day to school. His father, played by Stephen himself, is a construction worker who can barely make ends meet, and his mother has long sinc...[Read More]

If you have ever seen or been around academia type, this is a perfect representation of their life. I wish I was joking. Smarter than you think Lawrence Wetherhold is floating through life. Since the passing of his wife, he hasn’t been the same. He has raised a disconnected daughter named Vanessa, who mimics his life perfectly. He has a son in college who wants nothing to do with him. He has...[Read More]
Duck is a quiet, charming story that has moments of great sadness but is ultimately uplifting. It’s the story of Arthur and Joe. At the beginning of the film, Arthur has pretty much given up on life. Then Joe, a duckling, comes along. Arthur saves Joe physically even as Joe is saving him spiritually.Producer/writer/director Nic Bettauer establishes Arthur’s situation through a series of still ...[Read More]
So, what happens in the summer at DigitalChumps is people go on vacation, DVDs come in, and the person who might usually review a certain genre isn’t around, so the next hapless reviewer who happens down the hall gets a DVD thrust in their hands with the plea that they review it so that we can give you all a heads-up before the release date. Really, that’s how it works. And that’s how I came to...[Read More]
I miss the 80’s. The black hole doesn’t seem as bad as they think I know that there is a fanbase out there for Transformers, as I am a huge fan. Growing up in the 80’s (and I mean from 1980 until 1989) I experienced the full force of the Transformers and G.I. Joe era. I knew how great the cartoon was and how beautiful the first (and still original) film for the Transformers turne...[Read More]
A film adaptation of the critically acclaimed graphic novels published under the same name, Marjane Satrapi’s Persepolis is both beautiful and incredibly depressing. The auto-biographical story depicts her childhood in Iran under the shadows of the shah and of the Islamic Revolution.
Another romantic comedy that follows a fully predictable plot. Given the normally more independent tastes of its stars, I was surprised at how mainstream the movie really was. If you love this genre, you'll probably enjoy the movie. Otherwise....
