Around sometime in summer I had a wonderful Facebook friend send me a link that would change my opinion about subtle comedy. I can't recall what the issue was, maybe someone called me a 'nerd' -- which isn't far from the truth, but it propelled me to a little web show called The Guild. If you're wondering about the name it is exactly what it sounds like.
The honey loving silly ol' bear is making his way back into our hearts with this Seasons of Giving 10th Anniverary Edition DVD.
Warner Premiere is back with another animated movie based in the expansive DC universe. In Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, the two heroes must stop Lex Luthor from harnessing the power of a Kryptonite meteor headed straight for Earth. Lex Luthor isn't their only problem though; cast as outlaws, Batman and Superman will have to fend off other superheroes, including the Justice League while simulta...[Read More]
This show is so messed up.... but in a good way.
The mystery had to begin somewhere for Scooby-Doo and so it begins with this story.
I had heard so much about Astro Boy since I was a little kid. They even featured the character in my Robotech guide books that Harmony Gold released some time ago (yes, I was a nerd --- sh*t I still am). I hadn't really explored his story yet. Fast forward 20 years, I'm 33 now and I'm getting my first viewing of the Astro Boy adventure. To tell you the truth, it's much better than I expected.
There was a period of time in the 80s and early 90s where cartoons could be considered nothing short of spectacular drivel for the mind. You had violence, you had terrible humor and you had a moral-less 22 minute block of entertainment. Those were the good ol' days. Thankfully, Buena Vista and Marvel Entertainment (one in the same now?) took everything good about those cartoons and used it as a b...[Read More]
I finally got DirecTV this past year and found what I had always been missing: TCM. If you're not familiar with TCM it stands for Turner Classic Movies (as in Ted Turner) and you get nothing but great classics playing 24 hours. It's basically a better version of what AMC use to be. Anyway, this month Warner Brothers released the next set in the TCM collection on DVD and this editor could not be mo...[Read More]
On September 15th, Yimou Zhang's masterpiece, Hero, is coming back to DVD, this time in Special Edition form. The special edition DVD differs from the previous DVD in that it's been remastered and includes a new special feature. If you already own the previous DVD, this may not be enough here to warrant a repurchase. Let's take a closer look.
In 1971, Disney released Bedknobs And Broomsticks, and I personally believe they have yet to top this film and it stands as my favorite Disney movie to date -- as far as the non-animated ones are concerned anyway (even though this one does have some animation). So anyway, Disney is back with a new DVD release of the classic film, and this time it's the Enchanted Musical Edition. The major differen...[Read More]
When I hear the name Charlie Sheen, I think of two films: Hot Shots! and Navy SEALS. Of course, he's done a lot since then, not the least of which has been an on going, very well received sitcom named Two And A Half Men. I've seen several episodes over the years, and more a lot more recently as the sixth season just arrived on DVD.
