Psychic turned consultant is one Patrick Jane (played by Simon Baker) in CBS' popular crime drama The Mentalist. The series has a passionate fan base that applauds the show for its great writing and storytelling, along with its intricate and likable characters. Those very characters are a significant part of 'act two' of the Mentalist, i.e., the second season, in which character backgrounds and re...[Read More]
Indie Shalom. This production from Vivendi Entertainment and First Independent Pictures directed by Kevin Asch starring Jessie Eisenberg and Justin Bartha profiles true events from a short lived, Ecstasy smuggling ring in the late 1990s. And because of the brief time in which the events took place, this drug film seems a bit flat.
The Cold War era was not only a time of real espionage, but also a great deal of fictional espionage, much of it very good. ITV1 in England aired Danger Man, a thirty-minute show starring Patrick McGoohan, who would later be the lead role in an even more popular TV series known as The Prisoner. Home Box Office, aka HBO, is known for a lot of things -- increasingly, that list includes outstanding documentaries. The DVD for their Magic & Bird: A Courtship of Rivals documentary just recently came out to DVD. Let's take a closer look at 2009's Kung-Fu Mas...[Read More]

If you've never had the chance to watch the Turner Classic Movies channel on your local cable or satellite provider then I would strongly suggest calling them and adding it. It's an excellent channel filled to the brim with classic films that you may not have known exist. If you can't, then consider an alternative, as Warner Home Video is releasing some of the best material in their TCM Greatest C...[Read More]
I have to admit that I was fooled just like the rest of the world... ....and I loved every minute of it.
I haven't seen this much dry humor in a show since I had to put together Frasier promos when I was a producer.Much like Frasier, dry humor makes for a pleasant, yet subtle journey.
"Top of the world, Ma." Another set in Turner Classic Movie's series of Greatest Gangster Films. In this installment, the four films center around traditional acting juggernaut James Cagney. And the fine folks at TCM did a solid job at putting together a set that really showcases his wide array of talents. As well as picking pretty good movies in the process.
