After the Transformers cartoon ended in the United States in the late 80s, Japan went on to create new toys and dozens of new episodes, introducing new characters and stories to Transformers lore. The anime would develop into a massive trilogy which is now finally available on DVD in North America for the first time thanks to pop-culture pros Shout! Factory.
Shout! is set to release GI Joe Series 2, Season 1 on DVD this month, a series that often polarizes Joe fans. While admittedly not as technically solid as the Sunbow GI Joe cartoon, Series 2, created by DiC, still has enough cool factor to make it worth watching.
