Stephne Fry in Amercia, America like you’ve never seen it

So I just got done watching another wonderful documentary hosted by Stephen Fry cleverly titled Stephen Fry in America. This is the second documentary that I have seen Stephen Fry in. The first one Last Chance to See was much like this one; it was a travel documentary, it consisted of six episodes and he inevitably gets injured. I guess one could say he really gets into his work. Some of you may b...[Read More]

James and the Giant Peach

Henry Selick has captivated audiences with so many of his stop-motion movies. My kids are huge fans of Coraline and The Nightmare Before Christmas. So when we got in the Blu-ray version of James and the Giant Peach Special Edition, I couldn't wait to sit down and view it with them.

Cop Out

The idea of Bruce Willis in a Kevin Smith film is brilliant on paper. The goal is to make it brilliant on film. It almost happened.

Ip Man (Collector’s Edition)

I have seen my new favorite martial arts movie of all time, and it is Ip Man.

The Losers

The Losers was originally a comic that DC published in the 70s, but was decades later adapted by writer Andy Diggle and artist Mark Simpson, aka Jock, and published by Vertigo. The re-imaginging ran for three years and thirty-two issues, and was also recently made into a Hollywood film that has now come to Blu-ray. Cats & Dogs

When this film arrived in 2001 it was ahead of its time.  No, I'm not saying that because the plot was some over complicated Shakespearean creation where dogs and cats were portrayed perfectly. At the time the digital achievements of the film surpassed many other films similar to it. Added to this was an all-star cast of voices and some really good family comedy.

Pandora and the Flying Dutchman

Kino International is set to release their Deluxe Edition of the 1951 classic, Pandora and the Flying Dutchmen on Blu-ray on August 3rd. The 35mm Technicolor Restoration was performed by the George Eastman House and the result is a beautiful hi definition presentation of an excellent film.

Batman: Under the Red Hood

Warner Brothers Animation has a new Batman animated film coming out late this month, and it's one that you should make a point to see. I received the Blu-ray version of the film, which has the coolest box art I've seen in a long time, and was thoroughly impressed with the film and the presentation quality. This one isn't for the kids, but if you like Batman and mature themes, there's a lot to love...[Read More]

The Runaways

The Runaways Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning star as Joan Jett and Cherie Currie in the story of the pioneering all girl rock band, The Runaways. Every genre has a first and this is the beginning for hard chick rockers.  Under the instruction of Kim Fowley, The Runaways quickly became a global success. They may have laid the pavement for female rockers to come, but not with ease. These young pu...[Read More]
