What can you say about the universe? It's ever mysterious, ever intriguing nature knows no bounds. In May of 2007, The History Channel launched a TV series about the universe, aptly titled, The Universe. Over the course of five seasons and sixty-three episodes, this forty-four minute show narrated by Erik Thompson examines all sorts of topics related to the cosmos. Next week, A&E Home Video is rel...[Read More]
One of my favorite films last year, and one that ranks very high on my all time list, is Ip Man. Directed by Wilson Yip and starring Donnie Yen, Ip Man was inspired by real life events of the legendary Wing Chun Grandmaster. The sequel picks right up where the first left off -- most of the cast and crew intact. The two disc Collector's Edition is available tomorrow on DVD and Blu-ray. Both version...[Read More]

Pixar & Disney… ahhh it’s music to my ears. They go together like ice cream and sprinkles, icing on a cake, chocolate and more chocolate, you get the picture. They are perfect together. Let’s dig in and see if this film creation is just as Incredible as the rest.
Warner Brothers has more or less made April the month of Mortal Kombat with several franchise related releases hitting a variety of media this month. While the new video game is the crux of it all, Warner is taking the opportunity to bring the Mortal Kombat movies to Blu-ray as well.
Hey, you watching this movie... it's the only movie here! From Sony Pictures Home Entertainment comes the first release on Blu-Ray of this classic crime driven thriller directed by master Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro, Cybil Shepherd, and a young Jodie Foster. And although the film moves quite slow considering its theme, the production value and special features are top notch and l...[Read More]
Having just reviewed Arthur / Arthur 2, I've continued my non-stop Spring tour of films I haven't seen before. This train stop has rested snuggly at the 40th Anniversary Edition of Fiddler on the Roof. Packed with music, strong characters and literally a fiddler on top of a roof, there's much to be had here.
There's nothing quite like ending a long story with a bang.
For the last three years I've been dead-set determined to watch films I have never seen before. From The Bridge on the River Kwai to The One Who Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, I have had some catching up to do. Along came a press release for another film I had never seen before called Arthur. It's the original film that the most recent remake was based off of and after viewing it I can say this.......[Read More]
When the original TRON came out in 1982 it had a lot of people scratching their heads. Most people certainly wanted to like it, but all the terminology and the entire concept of 'hacking' and 'servers' really didn't click; mainly because none of that stuff existed. Thus, the film bombed horribly in the box office and people scoffed at poor Steven Lisberger for his insane notion that any of the co...[Read More]
Suspense, sexuality, and yes... some dancing. This release from 20th Century Fox's independent branch Fox Searchlight is the Blu-Ray + Digital Copy of the Academy Award winning tour de force directed by Darren Aronofsky and stars Natalie Portman, Mila Kunis, and Vincent Cassel. And despite the rather linear scope of the story, the overall experience is one of great emotion and horror.
