In the late 1960s, Dark Shadows was a different flavor of soap opera. Instead of over-dramatic nurses, buff guys and corny locations, it chose vampires, large manors, coffins and horror. Definitely a different cup of tea for daytime television. In the mid 1990s, Dark Shadows was reborn briefly, but regretfully couldn't capture the same aurora that made the first series unique. Back in June I reviewed the Season 1, Vol 1 DVD of GI Joe Renegades, this time around we're taking a look at the complete first season on Blu-ray.
This is probably the peak of Tim Burton's career, which is fine by me. He put together the life and times of the worst Hollywood director of all-time (although I hear Michael Bay is catching up quickly) in the most brilliant of fashion. So how did it all translate to Blu-ray? Come find out.
The easy thing to do here would be to make fun of this release, and I'm sure reviewers have done that this week. Gravity finally starts to take hold?

There are enough explosions in here for about five Michael Bay movies. From Shout! Factory comes a Korean Blu-ray import about speed, bombs, more speed, and more bombs. Although this makes it sound dry and boring, there is a lot to enjoy about this action/comedy that does anything but take itself seriously.
Schwartzman, Danson and Galifianakis are back for another season of the HBO comedy series, Bored to Death. Can the story of one man's pursuit to be a writer/detective keep living on? Come see.
Three witches causing havoc in a small town during Halloween? Count me in.
Shows come and go in the Blu-ray world. Most releases generally get a decent to great visual upgrade and then 'some' special features. This is a pattern that most television show releases go by and a flowchart that could only be rivaled by Dell's customer service chart. Once in a while there is a release that defies those odds. This is one of those releases.
New to Blu-ray and new to me, Pocahontas is part of a flurry of Disney animated movies released on BD this week.
