The 6th Day

Arnold Schwarzenegger has starred in some of the biggest blockbusters Hollywood has ever seen. As his acting career began to wind down at the turn of the century, Schwarzenegger's films began to falter. One of these films, The 6th Day, was recently released on Blu-ray. Taking a cue from the news at the time, The 6th Day is a sci-fi action flick about cloning. With a dull script and poor acting, Th...[Read More]

27 Dresses

I had seen my fair share of romantic comedies; most are generic and forgettable, but there have been some gems over the years that surprised me. Most recently I saw 27 Dresses on Blu-ray, starring Katherine Heigl, from Grey's Anatomy fame. I've certainly seen worse, but not a whole lot better in terms of romantic comedies and the Blu-ray release is something you may want to check out.

A Passage to India

From Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, we are brought a classic from 1984, set in the 1920s in the British Raj during the occupation of India by British troops. A Passage to India is based on the all-time classic book by E.M. Forster, a tale of an initially intriguing but ultimately troubled visit to the region by two English women. More than that, however, it is a narrative depicting the tension...[Read More]

Independence Day

In 1996, Will Smith, Bill Paxton, Randy Quaid, and Jeff Goldblum, with help from others, held off a full blown alien invasion of Earth to protect mankind. ID4, also known as Independence Day, was arguably the hottest film of the year, and is a textbook example of a summer blockbuster. Fox has recently transferred the hit film to Blu-ray for your consideration. The result is a well put together rel...[Read More]

Hitman

Every gamer out there knows, when Hollywood decides to make a movie based on a video game, the result is usually less than good; far less, even. Eidos' long running series Hitman has had its tour in theatres and now has been brought to Blu-ray by Fox recently in an intriguing two disc set. Featuring a good batch of extras, all in HD, and a second disc containing a portable media player version of ...[Read More]

Predator

I'm not a huge sci-fi buff, although I do like several sci-fi movies, including of course the Star Wars films, the Star Treks, and other greats like Outland. One of my all time favorites has made its way to Blu-ray recently, and I was pleased to get it in for review. That film is Predator, and it's just as good today as it was when it came out twenty-one years ago. This Blu-ray release, however, l...[Read More]

Commando

Last September, Fox released a Commando Director's Cut DVD. An all around solid release, I reviewed it and thorougly enjoyed it. Now, Fox has released a slew of new Blu-rays, including Commando. Needless to say I was excited at the news, but unfortunately Fox got lazy on this release...

Alvin & the Chipmunks

I always have feared childhood cartoons/icons that get transferred to theatrical releases. For example, Transformers. So when I found out that 20th Century Fox was going to release Alvin & the Chipmunks, oh did I cringe.

I, Robot – Blu-ray

I never knew Blu-ray could go this far. 20th Century Fox has pushed forward with the technology, I could not be more impressed. Continue please...

Juno : Two-Disc Special Edition

Ah, young love. You can't really describe the moment when you fall in love for the first time...Of course, it's much easier to describe the moment when you're still in high school and find out that the one moment you had with the one you love turns into a pregnant moment. Thus the life of Juno.

Enchanted

With a name like 'Enchanted' from a studio like Disney, you might think you're watching the newest animated feature from Disney. And, you would be right, at least for the first few minutes of the film. Enchanted is an interesting Disney title, taking themes from many of its classic animated features, and melding them into a tale produced in live action. The result is something fairly unique, but n...[Read More]

The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Terry Gilliam's beautiful box-office failure comes to Blu-ray, and it's a crying shame that people didn't catch it originally. Such a shame.
