Night Watch came from Russia (or whatever it's called now) and brought not only some horror to the silver screen, but also a very creative and intriguing story. Did it live up to the hype? It's like night and dayThe story follows a very bitter man named Anton who visits a witch to help put a curse on his cheating girlfriend. The witc...[Read More]

Mmmm..... Robotech on Blu-ray. Cue animation strip and familiar songSomewhere between the end of the New Generation and the end of Robotech II: The Sentinels lies Robotech: The Shadow Chronicles. Harmony Gold has done a fantastic job of making a 97 minute movie into a beautiful bridge in the storyline that has been left undone since the early 90's. The movie starts out with two young pilots, Al...[Read More]

I remember what grade I was in, the 11th. I anxiously popped in the masterpiece that was the soundtrack for The Nightmare Before Christmas. I've always been a huge Danny Elfman fan, and even more so a Tim Burton fan. I could not get enough of the music and movie that was The Nightmare Before Christmas. I wore the CD down... twice. And now it's on Blu-ray. This is Halloween!... at its bestJack is...[Read More]

Afro Samurai was one of those shows that I heard about, wanted to see, but never got around to watching. I hadn’t heard about the series in a long time until the Season 1 Director’s Cut came in for review late last week. At this point I didn’t know what became of the show but I was pleased to have the first season ready for my viewing.
To blame the writers or not blame the writers? That is the question...The honeymoon is over, what else you got?Following one of the best television seasons on television, Heroes: Season Two is a decent follow-up to the first. It's a mere 11 episodes long and it's impressive what the writers got in before the infamous writer's strike. The story continues after the resolution of the first (which I...[Read More]
ABC has Lost, CBS has... well... they've got something, but there's nothing quite like NBC and Universal's Heroes. Finally, comic books are getting attentionWhile certainly not a surprise to many, at least in the geek community (where I live and breath), comics have hit home in the Hollywood fashion, hard. With the emergence of Blade in the early 90's, than Spider-man and X-men, Hollywood finall...[Read More]
Just last week I had the opportunity to review the DVD release of Nixon – Election Year Edition and on the eve of this title’s release, I’m pleased to say the Blu-ray version arrived this afternoon. Outside of the obvious differences in video and to a lesser, but still noticeable, audio quality, this release is very similar to its DVD counterpart, nearly identical actually, with the only differenc...[Read More]
