When we got FIFA Soccer 10 in for review we all stared at it like it was an alien object from an unknown planet. That reaction is typical when it comes to soccer in these areas as Kentucky is mainly known as a basketball state. Football comes after basketball in the listing and somewhere around field hockey and kickball, soccer shows up. We had requested this game, though. As silly as it sounds,...[Read More]
Tekken has either been intrinsic to, or flat out destroyed, specific eras of my existence. Tekken 2’s CG intro, Nina’s hair in particular, introduced my jaw to floor. Tekken 3’s arcade-perfect Playstation port insured I would never love cast of fighters like I loved Yoshimitsu, Paul, and Jin. Tekken Tag was the first game I got for my Playstation 2, and a botched attempt to mod t...[Read More]
Tools of Destruction, Ratchet & Clank’s first Playstation 3 entry back in 2007, was about as safe a game as one could make. The visual leap took full advantage of the PS3’s technical muscle, but the gameplay elements, save a few fleeting instances, differed little from the three (and a half if you count Deadlocked) PS2 games. I loved playing Tools of Destruction, and I completed e...[Read More]
A few pillows, a couple of curtains and this room can spruce right up. Who ever thought that could be used as a metaphor?
Codemasters returns to its military sim franchise, Operation Flashpoint, with a new installment for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. This time around, gamers will be able to control their Marines on the small, oil rich, and hotly contested island of Skira. And while there's a lot to appreciate in Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (OFDR), a general lack of polish leaves the overall experience feeling a...[Read More]
In 2007, Naughty Dog and SCEA blew everyone away with Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. The third person action adventure played like a movie, one that you couldn't pull yourself away from and wanted to "watch" again as soon as it was over. No doubt a sequel was on the way, and in the last several months nearly everyone has gotten a taste of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (UC2), thanks to plenty of publicit...[Read More]
The NBA season is nearly upon us and with it inevitably comes the newest version of a trio of NBA video games. Last week, I reviewed SCEA's newest NBA title for a spin, and in the meantime I've been keeping busy with NBA 2K10 from 2K Sports, and NBA Live 10 from EA Sports. In the last few years, 2K Sports has had a firm grip on the annual NBA titles, but EA has definitely made some strong progress...[Read More]
There are moments in a reviewer's life where you put in a game and expect greatness. Metal Gear Solid 4, Mario Galaxy and Diablo are just a few examples of games that you know are already going to be great and entertaining. On the flip side to that coin you have games that are virtually unknown, which for the most part go unnoticed, and once you play the you are completely shocked/thrilled. Torna...[Read More]
I never knew flying could be this difficult and this wonderful at the same time.
I hadn't played the Katamari series in years before receiving Katamari Forever in for review. The newest, PS3-only, entry into the Katamari series that began on the PS2 features updated visuals, a new move, some other new gameplay elements, and all of the bizarreness that comes with a game built in the Katamari universe.
