NHL 11

Your favorite sports guy to hate is back! Fresh off the defense of my Madden NFL 11 review (9.6 on Metacritic.com), I've come to tell you about NHL 11 that just came out this month. Prepare to hate again.

Deathspank: Thongs of Virtue

Deathspank was one of the few games (that I didn’t have to review) where I managed to get a 100% completion percentage. It didn’t have much to do with embracing its ups or ignoring its downs, but rather my inability to see a list of potential tasks and an obsessive compulsive disorder/mandate to complete every last one. The easy of accessibility and gorgeous presentation aided my persi...[Read More]

R.U.S.E. : The Art of Deception

Deep down inside there is an real-time strategy fan inside my video game soul waiting for certain RTS games to arrive. When I was in college it enjoyed games like Command & Conquer and Dune. When released from the confines of college it soon discovered other genres and pretty much forgot how much RTS games truly were. R.U.S.E.: The Art of Deception has brought that piece of me out again.

Mafia II: Jimmy’s Vendetta

In Mafia II, there was little, if any, divergence from the main story. Some hailed it as a successful cinematic approach to interactive storytelling, others called it shoddy, barren game design. Despite your predisposition to the original Mafia II campaign, Jimmy’s Vendetta promises to deliver an “arcade-style” approach to gameplay in Empire Bay.

Mafia II

In Mafia II, the player takes the role of Vito, a WWII war vet who is thrust into a life of organized crime. The narrative is heavily referential with regards to essentially every single mafia movie you’ve ever seen. Featuring well-designed (although archetypical) and well-voiced characters, Mafia II’s story is not groundbreaking or overly compelling, but it is sufficient.

Earthworm Jim HD

Being eleven years old and consuming media in 1994 was awesome. Transformers and Ninja Turtles were fine for my formative years, but I couldn’t say I was disappointed when they gave way to a cornucopia of weird cartoons masquerading as children’s entertainment. Ren and Stimpy and, to a lesser extent, Rocko’s Modern Life retired standard kid’s show archetypes and replaced th...[Read More]

Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days

The Dead Men are back. For those of us who slugged through the original Kane & Lynch game, news of a sequel was encouraging. The first game felt unfinished and rushed, yet, despite its numerous flaws, the story and lead characters were intriguing. I-O Interactive had created a new IP and it was good, but the execution for the game simply wasn't, for whatever reason. Fast forward three years and Ka...[Read More]

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game

As a beat ‘em up, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World: The Game takes everything we know and love about pixel art, chiptunes, and just about anything nerdy and rolls it all up into an homage to gaming's past (and a nice promotional piece for the upcoming film starring Michael Cera).

Madden NFL 11

EA Sports set a new bar with Madden NFL 10. New visuals mixed with good commentary mixed with other essentials put last year's Madden ahead of the pack. Now what can they do for an encore? Where do I begin?
