Neverwinter Nights 2

One game that always looked appealing to me was Neverwinter Nights. Made available for mac, the original seemed to shine from out of the gates (special thanks to mysterious reader who corrected us on this, kudos -- Editor).  In late 2006, the sequel was released, only for PC. I had given up all hope of seeing a version that I could play, so I allowed the game to drop off my radar. Imagine my surpr...[Read More]

Eagle vs. Shark

SynopsisLily (played to quirky perfection by Loren Horsley) is what you might call an outcast. She seems to have trouble relating to people, and as a result she is lonely and, by traditional standards, quite the oddball. She works a dead-end job at a fast food restaurant, where her co-workers clearly want nothing to do with her. The only joy in her life comes in the form of daily lunch visits from...[Read More]

The House of Usher

Edgar Allan Poe. The name instantly evokes images of ravens, catacombs and pendulums—and rightfully so. His works are so utterly disturbing that they leave a lasting impression on most anyone who reads them. Perhaps his most famous short story, The Fall of the House of Usher, tells the chilling story of twins Roderick and Madeline Usher, through the eyes of an unnamed narrator.

Meet the Robinsons

Let’s face it: Disney is the undisputed king of traditional animated movies. From Steamboat Willie to The Emperor’s New Groove, the studio has consistently produced top-notch movies that delighted old and young alike with that familiar Disney magic. In the age of computer-animated movies, the story is a bit different. Sure, Disney took part in the extremely successful collaboration that was Toy St...[Read More]

Return to the House on Haunted Hill

The 1999 movie House on Haunted Hill was basically just a gore fest. The plot was thin at best (a millionaire offers a group of people $1 million each, if they can survive the night in a former mental asylum), but people watched it. The one really good thing about it was that it had a good cast, headed by Geoffrey Rush.

Gracie

When I first heard of this movie, I mistakenly assumed that it was just another sappy inspirational sports story. Technically, Gracie is an inspirational sports story, but it manages to avoid coming off as sappy. Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I popped the DVD into the player and found that I actually enjoyed the movie.

TMNT

As a kid in the early 90s, I was a huge fan of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise. I had every toy I could get my hands on, I saw all the live-action movies (including the third one, as horrible as it may be), I had the video game, and I watched the cartoon religiously. I even had TMNT birthday cakes two years in a row (both featuring Donatello, my favorite turtle). I think its safe to say...[Read More]

Scrubs Season 6

The ShowJ.D. (Zach Braff) and Kim (Elizabeth Banks) are expecting a totally unexpected baby, and they are in a bit of a pickle. See, they never technically had sex (watch the show for J.D.’s hilarious explanation), and they have only been on one date, so they are faced with the life-altering task of deciding whether or not to keep the baby.

Reno 911: Miami

I have never been a particularly avid viewer of the Reno 911! TV series, but the episodes I have seen have made me laugh hysterically from start to finish. When I read that a movie was being made, I was intrigued. The show was so politically incorrect on cable, I couldn’t even imagine what a film would be like.

The Reaping

The MovieKatherine Winter (Hilary Swank) is a smart, confident professor at Louisiana State University, who makes a profession of using science to explain so-called religious “miracles.” Having lost her faith some time ago, due to a tragic event, she has basically dedicated her life to disproving the existence of a god.

Lucky You

The MovieHuck Cheever (Eric Bana) plays poker for a living, even though he is barely making enough money to live on. He is doing everything he can, including hocking his mother’s wedding ring, to raise enough money to enter a high-stakes poker tournament. He knows that if he is able to participate in the tournament, he will more than likely end up facing his estranged gambler father, L.C. Cheever ...[Read More]

In the Land of Women

Okay, I admit: I was a fan of the show The O.C. at the beginning of the first season. When the show went on hiatus, so FOX could air the World Series in 2003, it pretty much dropped off my radar, along with most of the actors who were in the show. Earlier this year (2007), I saw a preview for a movie called In the Land of Women. Even though I hadn’t seen The O.C. for over four years, I immediately...[Read More]
