The Game Awards and Instagram announce AR effects for ‘We Make Today’

Today, The Game Awards and Instagram announced a global partnership to celebrate the passion and fandom around video games with six exclusive “We Make Today” Instagram augmented reality effects.

Available now on @thegameawards profile page, fans can interact with six unique augmented reality experiences that can be saved to their camera and shared to Stories or Reels: Instagram users can place The Game Awards statue in their environment, and use face effects, created by Eddyin3D, for five of the most nominated games of the show: Game of the Year nominees Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy VII Remake, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades and The Last of Us Part II. Created in partnership with the game studios, these effects immerse Instagram users in the game world all feature short musical clips from each game’s soundtrack.

Creators who use and share the AR effects to Instagram Reels by Wednesday at 12 pm PT / 3 pm ET have the potential of being featured inside The Game Awards livestream on Thursday.

In addition, fans can show their support for their favorite nominee by sharing the effect to Instagram Reels. During the show, Instagram and The Game Awards will announce the Game Awards effect which has been the most used on Instagram to date.
