Core is looking to uncover the next generation of game creators by launching the Student Game-Dev Hackathon in partnership with UpSync Berkeley, which is live now through November 29. Open to first-time creators and seasoned game-jam veterans alike, the hackathon is inspiring young creators to turn their own creative ideas into fully functioning video games using Core, the new UGC platform for playing and creating games that is speeding up the growing trend of game players becoming game makers in 2020.
The theme of the jam is “2020: The Game,” and is open to participants over the age of 13 who are currently enrolled as junior high, high school, college, or graduate students. The creators of the best new games will be rewarded with actual cash prizes, drawing from a $10,000 prize pool, that can help support these burgeoning game developer stars, and of course their creations will be available on Core for all to play for free.
