The PCS 1 has come and gone, and we were lucky enough to catch up with PCS 1 winners Shoot to Kill to discuss a bit of Esports.
Q: Can you tell us who you are and how you came together as a team?
A: I’m Kurtis “PurdyKurty” Bond, In game leader and team captain of Shoot To Kill. Our current roster formed when our former coach “Didz” and Uncivil one of our current teammates scouted and recruited myself and aLOW. We went on to pick up “luke12″ about 6 months later along with our current coach ‘MACHINEGUNNER”. We’ve been a full team with no changes for about 10 months now.
Q: In your opinion, why should people take Esports as serious as other professional sports?
A: People should take Esports just as serious as sports because the time and commitment is the same if not more. We’re not physical athletes obviously but the desire to be the best and commitment to our craft is there.
Q: Was it a big change to go from in-person tournaments to online with something like PCS?
A: Not really, I feel like we deal with the pressure easily compared to other teams at big events so we prefer to play at those if possible. We like other teams out of their comfort zones and feeling pressure, kind of makes us comfortable oddly enough.
Q: How does it feel to have won the PCS 1?
A: It feels great! We’ve been chasing a win for a long time, personally I’ve spent three years chasing a first place finish so this has been an incredibly satisfying event and I couldn’t be happier with the team.
Q: For young gamers out there looking to dive into Esports, what does it take to get to this level of gaming?
A: An open mind for learning and improving and way too much time.
Q: What’s next for you all?
A: The next step is to prove and keep proving we’re the best team in North America and one of the best teams in the world. PCS 2 starts in just a couple weeks so we’re back to the grind!
