There it is. Enjoy.
After announcing P.K. Subban as the global cover athlete earlier this summer, yesterday NHL 19 announced local cover athletes for two countries in the hockey-centric Nordic region. William Nylander of the Toronto Maple Leafs will represent his roots by being featured on Sweden’s local cover and Patrik Laine of the Winnipeg Jets will be featured on his homeland’s cover, in Finland.
Nylander has been garnering global attention as he follows in his father’s footsteps, with a current career of 185 games, 48 goals & 87 assists. When speaking about how it feels to be a cover athlete, he said, ”It is an honor to be on the Swedish cover of EA SPORTS NHL 19, it has been a childhood dream since I was young kid.” As a known gamer, Nylander will get to focus his scoring skills on both the virtual and real-life ice this season.
Laine, also an avid gamer, shared thoughts on his own NHL cover saying, “Playing chel is a great way for me to relax and have fun during the long season. I play with Ehlers and other teammates almost every day. It is really special to represent Finnish hockey culture in the cover of this legendary game.” Laine played on the 2017 All Star team and was also voted Rookie of the Month in February 2017 after a record of 8-7-15 across 11 games.
NHL 19 is set to launch worldwide on September 14, 2018. This year’s iteration will feature outdoor rinks for the first time in EA SPORTS NHL history, taking players from the pond to the pros as they progress through new and returning game modes. Real Player Motion (RPM) technology will ensure that moves across the ice feel more authentic than ever before, so players can hit like PK, puck-handle like Laine, and skate with Nylander’s power.
