E3 is right around the corner and Epic Games has partnered up with VentureBeat once again for the return of the Unreal E3 Awards! Honoring the best in Unreal Engine-powered games, this year’s event promises to showcase the full potential of the engine.

UNREAL E3 AWARDS RETURNING THIS YEAR
Epic Games and VentureBeat have announced that the Unreal E3 Awards will be returning this year! The awards will honor the most innovative, creative and visually stunning Unreal Engine-powered games on display at this year’s show.
This year’s categories include Eye Candy, Best Hook, Most Addictive, Best Sequel, Best Original Game, Biggest Buzz, Best VR Game, Outstanding Gameplay and Unreal Underdog.
Each winning team will receive an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti graphics card provided by NVIDIA. Interested developers can submit their game for consideration by emailing e32017@unrealengine.com.

JOIN EPIC GAMES FOR THE UNREAL ENGINE E3 MEETUP
Epic Games will be holding a casual Unreal Engine E3 meetup at the Golden Gopher in Los Angeles on Wednesday, June 14 from 6-8pm PT. Attendees can expect great discussion with the Unreal Engine team, along with drinks and a chance at winning an NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti graphics card courtesy of NVIDIA. Sign-ups filled up immediately, but anyone is welcome to join the standby list!

TODAY ON TWITCH: VOLUMETRIC FOG
Today on the UE4 Livestream, Senior Graphics Programmer Daniel Wright (@EpicShaders) will be joining Community Manager Alexander Paschall to discuss the highly popular new Volumetric Fog feature introduced with Unreal Engine 4.16. Varying densities are supported to simulate clouds of dust or smoke flowing through light shafts, and any number of lights can affect the fog.

UNREAL ENGINE SHOWCASE: SKYLAR & PLUX: ADVENTURE ON CLOVER ISLAND
As part of the Unreal Engine Showcase, take a look at the new 3D platformer Skylar & Plux: Adventure on Clover Island by Right Nice Games. Originally a student project at Stockholm’s Futuregames school, the development team continued to work on the game after graduation and have recently released the game for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
