We’re happy to announce the first ever collegiate tournament for Dropzone, a brand new hybrid RTS game. Dropzone is an all-new strategy gaming experience developed by Sparkypants Studios, which includes some of the creators behind the critically acclaimed, award-winning hits such as Rise of Nations, Rise of Legends, and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. RTS holds a special place in our hearts, as the CSL began with a Brood War league back in 2009. After playing Dropzone at PAX West, we got hooked, and we’re excited to finally bring a competitive system to the new Dropzone community. For those who haven’t tried the game, Sparkypants just announced that Dropzone will be available on STEAM! Check out the news HERE.
Without further adieu, we bring you the $5,000 Collegiate Dropzone tournament:
How to sign up
Email dropzone@cstarleague.com and include the following information: (1) YOUR SCHOOL’s name; (2) Your players’ Dropzone ID; (3) Your players; CSL website username (all users must register on cstarleague.com)
Teams must consist of a minimum of 2 players, but there is no maximum. All players must belong to the same school
There is no limit of teams per school, but a player may only play for one team
Prizing
1st place $2,500
2nd place $1,250
3rd place $750
4th place $500
Match format
All matches are BO3, consisting of 3 1v1 matches. The first team to 2 wins wins the match. If there is a 1-1 tie, an ACE match (tiebreaker) is played. A player can be re-used in the tiebreak, but the first two games must consist of two unique players
Tournament format
Tournament will consist of a round robin group stage followed by a single (or double) elimination playoff bracket, depending on the number of teams that participate
Dates & Deadlines
Registration Begins: February 1 – 28
League play: March 5, 12, 18 (teams may be required to play up to 2 matches per week)
Playoffs: March 26, April 1, April 2
