IM360 and Samsung launch 360 live-action video game

Los Angeles – March 8, 2016  – IM360 (www.im360.com), the leader in immersive and interactive content, announced the release of the first-ever 360° live-action video game, Samsung School of Rugby, a free download available exclusively on Samsung Gear VR, powered by Oculus.

The game is an extension to the Samsung School of Rugby campaign released for the 2016 Six Nations Championship, and combines vivid HD footage with video game elements shot and developed by IM360. The game is the first of its kind and features famous England Rugby players Martin Johnson, Lawrence Dallaglio, Maggie Alphonsi and Jason Robinson alongside comedian Jack Whitehall.

“When the agency pitched the idea of creating an actual game from 360° video, I jumped at the change to create something I had never seen done before,” said Derek Crosby, Technical Director, IM360. “When I saw the footage I knew we had something truly innovative on our hands. This project gives rugby fans everywhere the opportunity to enjoy a truly unique virtual reality experience.”

IM360 is helping to push VR sports into the mainstream, having previously produced the first boxing title fight and the first golf tournament broadcast live in 360°.

Players can download the game in the Oculus Store on Gear VR.
