Indie developers and major entertainment powerhouses alike showed off Unreal Engine games for PC, console, mobile and virtual reality platforms. We’ll see even more at Gamescom!
During yesterday’s Twitch broadcast, IDV co-founders Chris King and Michael Sechrest, along with senior software engineer Greg Croft, revealed brand new SpeedTree licensing terms and exclusive benefits for Unreal Engine 4 developers.
In summary:
– UE4 subscribers will get a free, fully featured SpeedTree integration when Unreal Engine 4.3 ships next month;
– UE4 subscribers can license the SpeedTree modeler (the same toolset used for movies and AAA games) for $19 per month;
– UE4 developers will be able to purchase models of trees, vegetation, rocks and the like on very accessible terms.
IDV is even creating new assets that take advantage of UE4’s rendering capabilities that exceed the quality bar of content available through current offerings.
The news signals yet another compelling offering for independent developers, and this is the best time in history to be an Unreal Engine developer. In case you missed it, you can view the broadcast here: http://www.twitch.tv/unrealengine/b/539983714
