Los Angeles, CA (MARCH 20, 2012) –Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment today announced the Blu-ray debut of two critically acclaimed and classic films from its catalog, THE GRAPES OF WRATH and ZORBA THE GREEK. Featuring unforgettable Oscar-nominated performances by Henry Fonda and Anthony Quinn, these stunning masterpieces are a must-have for any film-lover’s library.

Cinefiles and collectors can pre-order THE GRAPES OF WRATH and ZORBA THE GREEK exclusively through Screen Archives (www.screenarchives.com) to receive the Blu-ray in advance on April 3. The films will also be available on Blu-ray at retailers nationwide June 5.

THE GRAPES OF WRATH

Based on the Pulitzer Prize winning novel “The Grapes of Wrath” by author John Steinbeck, the eponymous film is directed by four-time Academy Award winner John Ford and stars Henry Fonda, John Carradine, and Jane Darwell. The film won two Academy Awards including Best Director (John Ford) and Best Actress (Jane Darwell). THE GRAPES OF WRATH was nominated for seven Academy Awards total including Best Picture and Best Actor (Henry Fonda).

Following a prison term he served for manslaughter, Tom Joad (Henry Fonda) returns to find his family homestead overwhelmed by weather and the greed of the banking industry. With little work potential on the horizon of the Oklahoma dust bowls, the entire family packs up and heads for the promised land – California. But the arduous trip and harsh living conditions they encounter offer little hope, and family unity proves as daunting a challenge as any other they face.

ZORBA THE GREEK
Starring Academy Award Winner Anthony Quinn (Lawrence of Arabia, Viva Zapata!, and Lust for Life) and Academy Award Winner Lila Kedrova (The Kremlin Letter), ZORBA THE GREEK is the winner of three Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress (Lila Kedrova), Best Cinematography, and Best Art Direction. The film was nominated for seven Academy Awards in all, including Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Director.

On the Greek isle of Crete, Basil (Alan Bates), a shy inhibited writer from England is befriended by Zorba (Anthony Quinn) a boisterous peasant with an astonishing love for life. When Zorba agrees to work at Basil’s abandoned mine, it is the beginning of a lesson for the young man as he gradually moves from an observer of the world to a participant. This acclaimed classic co-stars Irene Paps and Lila Kedrova in an Oscar winning performance.
