Lord of the Rings: The War in the North now available on OnLive

Palo Alto, CA – November 3, 2011 – OnLive, Inc., the pioneer of cloud gaming, announced today that the long-awaited The Lord of the Rings: War in the North is available for instant play on the OnLive Game Service, along with the EXCLUSIVE instant demo giving access to the first 30 minutes of the full game FREE. Day and date with the North American console and PC release, this highly anticipated game from publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer Snowblind Studios was made available to OnLive users starting November 1 at 12:01 a.m. EDT, giving OnLive users access hours before most retailers opened their doors. As with all OnLive games, The Lord of the Rings: War in the North plays instantly on HDTV, PC or Mac, with no discs, no large downloads or no high-performance hardware required.

Players can immediately take heroic roles in the rich and iconic world of Middle-earth. Playing as Human, Elf or Dwarf, players can team up with friends online and take on Sauron’s forces as a band of uniquely skilled allies in a hitherto untold chapter of the War of the Ring. Drawing from both the books and the popular movies, the game tells the story of a desperate battle to preserve the North from Sauron’s far-reaching hand, bringing to life a tale only hinted at in the story we know so well. Delivered as a rich and engaging co-op action role-playing game, this is the untold story of the War in the North, and of the heroes who fought there.

“We all wanted to go to Middle-earth when we read The Lord of the Rings novels and watched the movies. It’s a magical place,” said Steve Perlman, OnLive Founder and CEO. “We’re thrilled OnLive can share that magic with gamers with this superbly crafted title, and delighted that players can instantly enjoy this title through OnLive on their platform of choice, be it HDTV, PC or Mac.”
