HOLLYWOOD, Calif. (October 4, 2011) – Just in time for the holidays, the “loverliest” musical MY FAIR LADY sings in its first-ever Blu-ray Disc edition November 15 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment. Directed by George Cukor, the celebrated film won a staggering eight Academy Awards including Best Picture and now makes its Blu-ray debut with dazzling bonus features and stunning high-definition picture and sound. Restored to pristine condition, the MY FAIR LADY Blu-ray Disc is highlighted by special features including vintage footage and audio taken from the film’s original shoot nearly 50 years ago, alternate vocals from star Audrey Hepburn, featurettes, galleries and more.
Adapted for the screen from Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe’s original Broadway hit and headlined by Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison, MY FAIR LADY is a reinvention of the original George Bernard Shaw stage play Pygmalion. It begins as arrogant linguistic professor Henry Higgins (Harrison) makes a wager with his colleague that he can turn a sassy, cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle (Hepburn) into the toast of English society simply by changing the way she speaks. After several lessons, he finds that not only has his pupil become a sophisticated lady, embraced by the highest echelons of society, but that she also has a few lessons for him of her own. Mixing comedy and romance with touching drama, and including timeless songs such as “The Rain In Spain,” “I Could Have Danced All Night,” and“Get Me To The Church On Time,” MY FAIR LADY remains one of the most revered movie musicals in film history.
MY FAIR LADY BLU-RAY is presented in 1080p with English 7.1 HD Master Audio and English SDH, Japanese, French, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, German, Italian, Castilian and Brazilian Portuguese subtitles. The film is rated G and is available for the suggested retail price of $32.99. The total running time is approximately 172 minutes. The disc breakdown is as follows:
