Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory headed to Blu-ray via Warner Home Video

Burbank, Calif., June 20, 2011— Pee-wee’s Big Adventure – the funny, adventurous cult classic, starring Paul Reubens (Pee-wee’s Playhouse) and the film that launched Tim Burton’s directorial career (Alice in Wonderland, Beetlejuice, Batman, Batman Returns, Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, Edward Scissorhands) – pedals onto Blu-ray Disc for the first time October 4 from Warner Home Video (WHV). To sweeten the holiday shopping season, WHV will also release Tim Burton’s vivid film adaptation, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, starring Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, Alice in Wonderland, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, Edward Scissorhands) on Blu-ray for the first time in the U.S. Both titles will be available individually with a suggested retail price of $19.98. Orders are due August 30.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and Pee-wee’s Big Adventure are also available On Demand and for Download from Amazon On Demand and iTunes.

Tim Burton, whose recent film Alice in Wonderland won two Academy Awards® (Best Achievement in Art Direction and Best Achievement in Costume Design in 2011), is renowned for his wildly imaginative style, macabre humor, captivating characters, richly detailed costumes and eye-popping effects. He is currently directing the upcoming theatrical film Dark Shadows, starring Johnny Depp. Additionally, Tim Burton’s touring exhibition featuring artwork tied to his movies as well as original drawings, sculptures and other works created throughout his career, opened at New York’s Museum of Modern Art in November 2010, where it became one of the most-attended exhibitions in the museum’s history. The exhibit is currently at The Los Angeles County Museum of Art through October 31, 2011.
