The Americana at Brand summer event kicked off at 3 pm on Aug. 4 with interactive RIO-themed family activities surrounding the stage area. Event attendees and families (an estimated 7,000 in total) enjoyed the following activities:
· RIO beach with sand and palm trees
· RIO-branded stage area
· Samba dancers
· Stilt walkers
· Live Hyacinth Macaw with trainer
· Green screen interactive photo booth where families could take photos with the characters
· Color with Blu app demos with RIO promo girls
· Giant coloring wall
· RIO-branded beach balls, sunglasses, lollipops were on hand as promo giveaways
At 7:30pm, 2Cellos opened the show and received a great reception. They are getting ready to kick off a tour opening for Sir. Elton John!
At 8pm, Sergio Mendes and his band came onstage and began a spectacular show that had everyone standing and dancing. His set lasted 45 minutes, and he played a number of his legendary classics and several from the RIO soundtrack including “Birds of a Feather,” all of which got the crowd up dancing and singing through the summer evening!
