Nikita: The Complete First Season out on DVD & Blu-ray August 30th

BURBANK, CA (June 8, 2011) – When it comes to sexy assassin Nikita, looks really do kill. Relive the action and suspense of the hit Warner Bros. Television/The CW series’ “killer” first season as Warner Home Video (WHV) releases Nikita: The Complete First Season on Blu-rayTM and DVD August 30, 2011, for SRP $69.97/$59.98. Nikita stars action heroine Maggie Q (Mission: Impossible III, Live Free or Die Hard) as a charming but deadly secret agent gone rouge, who now attempts to bring down the very same people who trained her: a corrupt, secret government agency known only as Division.

Nikita — which is executive produced by Craig Silverstein (Bones, K-Ville), David Levinson (21 Jump Street, The Commish), Danny Cannon (CSI series, Dark Blue), McG (Chuck, Supernatural, Human Target) and Peter Johnson (Chuck, Supernatural, Human Target) — has been hailed by The New York Times as a “…surprisingly sophisticated and satisfying adaptation,” while the New York Post called it “fresh, terrific and terrifically silly.” Nikita: The Complete First Season, available on a five-disc DVD and four-disc Blu-ray, features all 22 episodes of the show’s action-packed freshman year along with over three hours of never-before-seen bonus footage including multiple featurettes, deleted scenes, gag reel, audio commentary and a Blu-RayTM exclusive featurette.

Former Division operative Nikita will stop at nothing to expose and destroy the covert government organization that trained her to become an assassin. A force to be reckoned with, the rogue Nikita plots against the ruthless head of Division, Percy (Xander Berkeley – Kick-Ass, 24) his  top lieutenant, Michael (Shane West – ER, Once and Again), the nonconformist computer genius Birkhoff (Aaron Stanford – Traveler, X-Men: The Last Stand) and master manipulator Amanda (Melinda Clarke – The O.C., The Vampire Diaries). With the help of Division’s newest recruit Alex (Lyndsy Fonseca – Kick-Ass, Desperate Housewives) who is living a double life as Nikita’s mole, Nikita always manages to stay one step ahead of her former bosses and is closer than ever to bringing Division down for good. The first season also starred Tiffany Hines (Bones) as Jaden, a new recruit who has it out for Alex, and Ashton Holmes (The Pacific) as Thom, a new recruit who finds his loyalties compromised.

“Warner Home Video is delighted to release Nikita: The Complete First Season on Blu-rayTM and DVD,” said Rosemary Markson, WHV Vice President, TV and Special Interest Marketing.  “Nikita is a quality show with a dedicated fanbase, making the potential of this title limitless. With Nikita: The Complete First Season, fans and newcomers can catch up and prepare for the highly anticipated second season of this sexy and suspenseful series.”
