CULVER CITY, CALIF. (April 25, 2011) – Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical trilogy, Sucker Punch), Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four), Mary-Kate Olsen (The Wackness, TV’s “Weeds”), Peter Krause (TV’s “Parenthood”) and Neil Patrick Harris (TV’s “How I Met Your Mother”) star in a modern adaptation of the classic tale “Beauty and the Beast” when CBS Films’ Beastly debuts on Blu-ray™ and DVD June 28th from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment.  After arrogant teenager Kyle Kingson (Pettyfer) humiliates a classmate (Olsen), she puts a curse on him that transforms him from a hunk into a hideous creature. Bonus features include deleted scenes, an alternate ending, the music video for “Be Mine” by Kristina and the Dolls and two featurettes: “A Classic Tale Retold: The Story of Beastly” that takes viewers behind-the-scenes of the fantasy-romance and “Creating the Perfect Beast” which explores the spectacular special effects makeup used in the film. Beastly will be available on Blu-ray for $34.95 SRP and on DVD for $28.95 SRP.

SYNOPSIS:
Seventeen-year-old Kyle (Alex Pettyfer) is the spoiled, shallow and incredibly popular prince of his high school kingdom. Entirely captivated and empowered by his own physical appearance, Kyle foolishly chooses Kendra (Mary-Kate Olsen), a classmate rumored to be a witch, as his latest target for humiliation. Unfazed by his cruel behavior, Kendra decides to teach him a lesson – she transforms him into someone as unattractive on the outside as he is on the inside. Now he has one year to find someone who can see past the surface and love him, or he will remain “Beastly” forever. His only hope, an unassuming classmate he never noticed named Lindy (Vanessa Hudgens), may be his best chance to prove that love is never ugly.

Written and directed by Daniel Barnz (Phoebe in Wonderland), Beastly is based on the Alex Flinn novel of the same name. Susan Cartsonis produced, with Michael Flynn and Roz Weisberg acting as executive producers.
