Culver City, Calif. (Nov. 29, 2010) – Sony Pictures Home Entertainment brings The Tillman Story, an insightful and devastating documentary that combines the hard-hitting grittiness of a classic gridiron tale with the unraveling of one family’s controversial case against the U.S. government to learn the truth, to Blu-ray Disc and DVD on February 1, 2011.
Nominated for the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, The Tillman Story examines the controversial death and cover-up of celebrated NFL-star turned Army Ranger Pat Tillman, killed in the line of duty in Afghanistan. Narrated by Josh Brolin (Oscar® Nominee for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, Milk, 2008), the riveting documentary by acclaimed director Amir Bar-Lev (My Kid Could Paint That) includes heart-wrenching interviews with the Tillman family and the former football star’s fellow Army Rangers forced to comply with a military conspiracy.
The Tillman Story Blu-ray and DVD include a behind the scenes featurette and will be available for the SRP of $30.95 (Blu-ray) and $24.96 (DVD).
The Tillman Story Synopsis: Pat Tillman decided to leave a multimillion-dollar professional football contract and join the military because he felt it was the right thing to do. When he died in a friendly‑fire incident in Afghanistan in 2004, the military is shown to have manipulated his tragic death in the line of duty into a glorifying propaganda tool.
