Culver City, CA (2/1/10) – Justice has a new name in the action-packed superhero dramedy DEFENDOR, releasing on DVD April 13, 2010, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. Woody Harrelson (2009 Golden Globe® Nominee) suits up for adventure and laughs in the story of a regular man who takes on a superhero persona in order to combat crime in his local city. A hip, smartly comic cast, including Sandra Oh (TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy,” Sideways) and Kat Dennings (Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, The House Bunny), add to the fun in a laugh-filled movie that boldly satirizes the popular comic book hero genre while creating an unforgettable new superhero of its own.
After wowing audiences and critics at its 2009 Toronto International Film Festival premiere, DEFENDOR now rises on DVD, armed with bonus features including feature length commentary with Woody Harrelson, Kat Dennings and the filmmakers, plus five revealing featurettes that take viewers behind the scenes of this innovative new kind of superhero movie, deleted scenes and outtakes.
Synopsis
Arthur Poppington (2009 Golden Globe® Nominee Woody Harrelson) doesn’t need superpowers or fancy toys to fight crime. Can the two of them take down the city’s most fearsome crime boss without getting killed in the process?
DEFENDOR marks the directorial debut of actor Peter Stebbings (K-19: The Widowmaker), who also wrote the screenplay. It was produced by Nicholas Tabarrok (Left Behind 1-2, Weirdsville).
