Culver City, Calif. (December 8, 2009) – Sony Pictures Home Entertainment ushers in the month of love with Blu-ray releases Maid in Manhattan and Mona Lisa Smile on February 2, 2010 for the SLP of $24.95 each. Romantics will delight in these two heartwarming stories of a hotel maid and an art history professor who find love in the most unlikely of places.
Starring Jennifer Lopez (The Wedding Planner) and Ralph Fiennes (The Constant Gardner), Maid in Manhattan is a modern-day Cinderella story. However, in this interpretation, the castle is the Waldorf Astoria, the girl is a maid and the obstacle, her economic status. Marisa’s (Lopez) world is turned upside down when she meets and falls in love with a dashing political hopeful (Fiennes) who mistakes her for a wealthy socialite. After some comical hijinks, Marisa finds her happily ever after.
Mona Lisa Smile paints a portrait of a young liberal teacher, (Julia Roberts, Academy Award® Winner, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Erin Brockovich, 2000), in the 1950s who was hired by Wellesley to teach young, privileged girls about art. As she opens their minds to new world views, her heart blossoms to experience love in its true form.
These touching high definition titles will warm the cockles of the heart. Both films come BD-Live™ enabled and include special features such as a “College Then and Now” and “What Women Wanted: 1953” featurettes (Mona Lisa Smile), and for some levity, a blooper reel (Maid in Manhattan).
