LA, California, July 2008. The first trailer of Hydrophobia has been released at E3, showcasing the revolutionary HydroEngine fluid dynamics system. For the first time ever, water in games behaves exactly like the real thing, flowing from one area to another and interacting dynamically with the environment.
HydroEngine is a real-time fluid dynamics solution, developed over a number of years by Blade Interactive’s R&D team and exhibiting real-world emergent behaviour, dynamic splashes and spray, infinite underwater particles, surface foam and the ability to wet any surface.
Says Huw Lloyd, R&D Director of Blade Interactive. “We delighted to finally show the world the incredible HydroEngine technology which powers the unique Hydrophobia experience. We’ve barely scratched the surface of what’s to come, but this trailer demonstrates the most advanced water technology ever seen in a game – water which quite simply behaves like the real thing.
The result is gameplay like you’ve never experienced before”.
