Critics complained that the movie was basically three episodes put into one large movie. They complained that the middle of the film was dead, dragging the story down. The critics complained about everything they could make up in their tiny minds (yes, even mine), but i’m telling you this film is fun from beginning to end. It took 16+ years for the staff behind the show to put together a story that satisfied them, and they picked a perfect time to release it. The movie flows, it’s funny, witty and just plain stupid in some segments. It brings the everlasting charm and love from the show to the big screen in the most perfect way. It certainly isn’t the strongest, most inspiring story put together, but it delivers what it promises. It brings everything the show has brought and it brings it so very well. Homer and the gang are just what they were and have been.
There’s nothing wrong with this film, not one darn thing. It’s made for older kids and definitely adults. It’s got spirit and it was certainly worth the wait.
Blu-ray, finally someone did something right! Possibly
An animated movie in high-def? Oh, it’s gorgeous! Animated films are difficult to display on DVD itself, but when it turns out well in high-def, you have to give it some props. And you should, if you own a blu-ray player.
As for the features, okay… they could have been better. Here’s what you get:
— Commentary
— Director’s commentary
— Deleted Scenes and Alternate Ending (slightly)
— Special Stuff
— Tons-o-Trailers
While this isn’t a huge deal because it’s more about the movie, but there should have been more there. Maybe some episodes of the show would have been nice, but what can you do? I still think it’s a young technology, but DVDs should have prepared companies for what the audience demands after paying $25 – 30 for a blu-ray.
Worth the wait…
It took them 16+ years to satisfy the fanbase for ”The Simpsons” and they did it well. It looks great on Blu-ray, even on DVD, and it shouldn’t be missed. Should have been better in the features department, but maybe it will in another 16+ years.
