Tropico 6 is an intricate world builder that simulates what it takes to build and run your own county. You play as El Presidente and have all the power. You chose how you want to build, run, and maintain your own cluster of islands. Tropico 6 has good gameplay, great style, and a lot of options. The game can get a bit overwhelming and is old looking but overall is a solid game.
Tropico lets you decide. Customizing your character and house is fun but deciding your personality is where things get interesting. You can choose from many different options each with different in-game effects. Before you will even see your island, you are thinking of what kind of person you will be and how you want to rule. This game has you constantly making choices that will affect you down the road. Everything from region, military, to alliances, and tourism. This game is packed.
Navigating the islands is simple and layout gives you plenty of room to set up your country. Start out as a simple colony and stay in power through the world wars, the cold war, and finally catch up to current times. This progression system allows you to play at your own pace but also keeps gameplay interesting. The game gives you so much to work with it is both a positive and a negative. If you play a lot of strategy games like this one, then you will have no issue with all the numbers and tasks that are given to you. Newcomers to this genre, like myself, will feel lost at times. There are a lot of different tabs and it can become unclear what you should do next. It is not difficult to learn but at first, you may have some struggles. The way that all this information is displayed is very clear so once you figure out what you need to do, getting it is simple.
I wish that the game visibly was a bit sharper. The game does not look like it was released in 2019. Sharper graphics would take this game to the next level. The music in the game is fun and perfect for being on an island. It gave the game new energy and I was always pleased with the upbeat tunes. Fun to play and a good game for anyone interested.
