Overall, Season two of The Shannara Chronicles is a great american fantasy drama that has the potential to continue to thrive.

Back for season two, The Shannara Chronicles is an American fantasy drama television series based on the best-selling fantasy book series by Terry Brooks. The show follows heroes in the Four Lands as they try to stop an evil demon army from destroying the universe. The fate of the universe lies in the hands of a trio: Elvin Princess Amberle, Human Rover Eretria, and half-elf Will.

With The Shannara Chronicles biggest fantasy competition being Game of Thrones, it was important for them to come out on top this season. In season one, they seemed to have very up-scaled villages and castles that stood out more than the sets on Game of Thrones, but this season they seem to have down-scaled. I don’t think that this necessarily hurt them because I think it fit in with this season’s storyline better, but I felt that it made them look a little cheap budget-wise.

Although the storyline of this show is one that has been seen before in other fantasy shows/movies, the performances from the characters were great and I still felt that there were surprises along the way to make this show different than the others. Season two was a little bit more predictable than season one, and that might be the only downfall I really saw between seasons. We definitely want the show to become more interesting, not less.

As far as the characters go, if you loved them in season one, you’ll love them even more this season. They continue to give great performances and tell a great story. This season, they added an LGBT relationship and put more women in positions of power. I thought that was a great way to add diversity and relevancy to the show and to season two.

What’s to come for The Shannara Chronicles? Hopefully a season three! Unfortunately, the series was cancelled on Spike TV but they are searching around for other networks that will hopefully air a new season! It also streams on Netflix. If you’re in the mood for a good American fantasy drama, The Shannara Chronicles is just for you!
