NANA

NANA

Standing up to the fears in their lives and supporting one another Nana discovers her independent strength and NANA is able to face Ren after a long needed meeting. A heart warming tale of friendship and love I shyly have to admit I love this film the way a Goth kid timidly admits she loves cute strawberries. So full of adorable moments and the heartbreaking experiences we all face, one can not deny this chick flick from the collection. Following a similar line to Kamikaze girls but on a softer note this film will quietly capture your heart.

PRESENTATION-

A live action film by Viz based on the manga by Ai Yazawa, I have to say that they did a good job adapting. While the characters don’t perfectly resemble the ones in the story good choices were made as I was able to fall in love with the characters and while changes were made it worked for the big screen. I have to say that the song that NANA sings is one I want to find on a soundtrack to listen to over and over again. While many of you out there may not be into J-Pop, I found that NANA’s voice had some wonderfully honest qualities to it and really added that next element to the film. It’s always awesome when you can get an artist to play the part of the artist in a movie, it allows the character to have so much more depth and tangibility.

OVERALL-

My sister and I have already seen this movie twice though when I drove up to visit her last time she asked if I had brought it with me. Honestly I thought about it, it’s one of those that you just end up falling asleep top because the characters are so comfortably familiar with. I think mostly of late high school days when everyone was trying to make something out of their bands, sporting the Yankee style and scavenging for a new sound, this is NANA’s goal when she sets out for Tokyo and Nana is hoping to grow closer to Shoji reaching the goal of finding someone to settle down with and get married. When things fall apart though the two find each other to be the strength and support they need a gift of fate.
