His (thought to be), widowed sister-in-law, Madoka, is one of the top detectives on the police force. She is usually first on the scene of the crime, but Ayumu is always the one who solves it. Madoka worries that Ayumu is getting too involved in the cases so she continually asks him to stay out of it. Being the teenager that he is, he does the opposite and gets more involved with each crime, quickly becoming the main interest of the Blade Children. Most of the infamous Blade Children that Ayumu encounters are normal students living normal lives, but there are a certain three that seem to have it in for him. Their names are Eyes Rutherford, a famous male pianist; Kousuke Asazuki, a teenage boy that likes to play games, and the innocent “looking” Rio Takeuchi, a school girl that would seem to be the least likely to commit any crime. But beneath their calm, innocent demeanors lies the ability to kill without a second thought, making them dangerous enemies. The subject continues to be brought up that Ayumu is the last hope for the Blade Children, but then why do they want him dead? Every episode the above mentioned three have some new trick up their sleeve to try to get rid of Ayumu. Watch as Ayumu and Hiyono dismantle bombs, chase down strange packages, and solve various puzzles in the hopes of solving the Blade Children Mystery.
PRESENTATION–
The two main characters are quite easy to like. Ayumu is the quiet, mysterious, reserved boy and Hiyono is the loud, boisterous, resourceful girl. With this combination they make a killer pair for fighting crime. The music in the show always puts me on edge when a conclusion is about to be reached (even though I always try to figure it out myself) and the art is detailed and easy on the eyes.
Extras-
The boxed set comes with six disks, each of which include some background information on something significant in the episodes, character profiles, an image gallery, and trailers. Also included are textless songs.
Overall-
This was a great show. Every time I watched it I felt motivated to work on my logic skills, which of course never improved. The characters are easy to like and several of the episodes are cliff hangers, forcing you to keep watching until the mystery is solved.
