Imagine a world dominated by monsters and magic, where you can train to become a legendary warrior equipped with cool weapons that are almost an extension of yourself. Welcome to Remnant, a fictional world that is protected by huntsman and huntresses who fight against the ancient creatures that threaten the existence of the human race. Having not seen the first 4 volumes of the show, there’s not a whole lot I can say about the story of RWBY. However, there were a lot of great things this show had to offer for people who haven’t necessarily followed the show up until this point.
I particularly enjoyed the animation style chosen by the creators of the show. The characters and environment were more three-dimensional than your traditional two-dimensional anime. This gave the show a certain originality that I haven’t seen in a lot of anime series’. It also gave the show more personality. I kept noticing small things in the character’s facial features that I haven’t seen before.
I was also a big fan of the fighting scenes in RWBY. While dialogue dominates most of the episodes in the series, it presents several battles between the main characters and large monsters. These monsters are extremely aggressive and could take out any of the characters with one heavy hit. Through strategic movements, Ruby and the rest of her gang are able to take them out. I couldn’t get over how fun it was to watch them fight and that’s what I love from a good anime.

“5 Years of RWBY” features the history of RWBY. It’s a great look into the past of the series and an inspiring story of a small animation team.

The Blu-ray box also offers the CRWBY series which consists of 14 episodes, a behind the scenes look at the creators of the show which features all the hard work that gets put in to making RWBY. If you are an aspiring animator, this is something you may want to check out.
