The Pro MMO Gaming Mouse is damn good for the price point it sits in. It brings just enough comfort and customization to warrant a good look, while the software simplicity adds more to strategic gaming.

Gaming mice are a necessity in the PC and Mac (LOL) gaming world. For years, I have worked with and through these mice, always trying to find the best of the best, while also trying to compromise form and functionality with decently priced (not cheap). IOGear and Kaliber Gaming might have found a nice balance with the Pro MMO Gaming Mouse, as it is stylish and customizable, while programmable and easy to use. It’s got a lot of panache for a gaming mouse, so let’s dig in.

Functionality
I like opening boxes without reading them. I find that discovering what’s there is part of reviewing fun for PC accessories. If the item has the proper amount of HCI love with its design, then there isn’t much need for instructions on what it can do. If you don’t know much about HCI, then lord Google that shiz.

Anyway, the first thing I noticed about this mouse, outside of the flashy colors that lured me in, was that it was weighted. You can feel right out of the box that this thing is meant for gamers, as it is heavy on the underside. Using an old concept that was brought to life from Logitech mice of ye yon older years at E3, IOGear and Kaliber have fitted weights on the underside of the mouse carriage that is removable to help adjust to the comfort of the gamer. All you have to do is twist the weight plate door and it will unlock the area that holds three weights. You can remove each weight until you get to the appropriate weight. The weight system seems silly in concept, much like the #SnyderCut, but it works because it keeps your mouse in a perfect sliding motion, while keeping it close to the surface. The Pro MMO Gaming Mouse’s weight system works well in that regard.

On the software side of the tracks, the inclusion of 12-buttons on the device makes for a wonderful strategic experiment when it comes to assigning buttons through IOGear and Kaliber’s software package. The software is incredibly easy to use and features not only multiple profiles for macro designs, but also different color schemes to play around with. While the former is useful, the latter isn’t anything special except if you’re a huge fan of visual customization. I am not a huge fan, but my youngest daughter was dying to see the mouse flash pink, and the software allows for you to pick amongst the many arrays of colors available in the world. And, yes, Penelope was happy with the pink mouse. Anyway, if you’re a big macro person, which I would imagine that all of you reading this are, and you enjoy customization, then you’re in for a treat here.

Comfort and Value
I have a $100+ ROCCAT mouse. I have had more expensive mice in the past. While certainly the quality and professionalism that went into crafting those makes the price point justified, that doesn’t mean that cheaper mice can’t bring the same gaming prowess. The Pro MMO Gaming Mouse comes in at $59.95 and it’s a price that is more than reasonable. While it doesn’t bring exactly the same comfort as my ROCCAT, the customization and weight option make me happy. I’ve had it for nearly three weeks and it hasn’t cramped my hands, it hasn’t let me down during gaming, and it absolutely works like a charm. Is it the best mouse I’ve used? Nah. Is it a perfect price point for those jumping into the pro mouse business? Yes. And, honestly, it works well.

Conclusion
The Pro MMO Gaming Mouse is damn good for the price point it sits in. It brings just enough comfort and customization to warrant a good look, while the software simplicity adds more to strategic gaming.
