“Power Book II: Ghost picks up after the events of “Power” as Tariq St. Patrick grapples with his father’s death while his mother Tasha, faces charges for the murder her son committed. Tariq is forced to split his time between school and hustling to pay for Davis MacLean, the defense lawyer who is Tasha’s only hope of escaping prosecution by U.S. Attorney Cooper Saxe. Tariq turns to the drug game, entangling himself with a family headed by Money Stewart Tejada. He figures out the only way to avoid the same fate his father met is to become him – only better.”

Power Book II: Ghost is a sequel series to its predecessor, Power, which was one of Starz’s most popular shows, running for six seasons from 2014 until 2020. With this season debuting the same year, fans of the show didn’t have to wait long for another chapter in this drama series, which picks up days after the finale of the previous show.

The series is the first of four planned spin-off series, each following different characters introduced from the Power series. This is a hard show to pick up and watch without seeing the original series, but regardless of being lost on some of the story, the show seems to be well made. There is plenty of drama to go around, and if you’re already invested in these characters from a previous show, there is so much room to expand on those, giving fans of these characters deeper storylines they may never thought they’d have. If you’re a fan of the original show, why wouldn’t you want an expanded series of shows to follow some great characters? Too often these days shows aren’t given the time to properly develop, but Starz doubles down and not only gives this show 6 seasons worth of content, but additional series to further explore these storylines.

Here’s an episode breakdown:

  1. The Stranger – As Tariq St. Patrick begins his new life at Stansfield University, he’s torn between two worlds: doing as his mother said, living his life as a normal college kid; or doing what she taught him, hustling product.
  2. Exceeding Expectations – Haunted by the legacy of his father, Tariq tries to understand who James St. Patrick was to the people in his life, how it’s shaped Tariq’s own life, and how the memories of his father define the man Tariq wants to become.
  3. Play the Game – Tariq struggles with the weight of providing for his mother’s mounting legal defense while juggling the rigors of Ivy League life.
  4. The Prince – After Monet’s agreed to do business with him, Tariq initiates his play to control the drug market on campus, while insulating his and Monet’s involvement.
  5. The Gift of the Magi – On Tariq’s 18th birthday, Saxe brings him news that could blow up Tasha’s case; Tariq is concerned about Brayden’s budding relationship putting their business in danger.
  6. Good vs. Evil – Tariq fears a violent collision course with Cane, but his hands are tied by letting Brayden in on the arrangement with the Tejadas.
  7. Sex Week – As the heat is turned up on campus, Tariq isn’t trying to be left in the cold with Lauren or Diana.
