“Season Three brings cocaine and the war on drugs closer to home as the Cali cartel, emboldened by the fall of Pablo Escobar, looks to expand its operations inside America’s borders. Cali Godfather Gilberto Rodriguez designs an exit strategy that will allow cartel leaders to live happily ever after – but his plans are threatened when someone within his organization teams up with DEA agent Peña in the thrilling third season of this acclaimed series.”
Netflix has quickly set the bar in quality of television shows with their original content. While Narcos isn’t entirely original, being based on the real Pablo Escobar, it still holds the high quality that the Netflix’s other shows afford. Extremely well written, with intense and stunning visuals throughout the series, Narcos may quite possibly fill the void left from other drug related dramas such as Breaking Bad. Although it isn’t quite the same, this series will definitely scratch the itch many people have for good television and true-biography related stories.
Netflix is usually very good about giving the viewer a recap on what’s happened in previous seasons. The fact that unfortunately I hadn’t seen the first two seasons before watching the third would have made this a much easier process at the beginning, but as the story flowed I was surprised at how fast I was able to follow along, a testament to the writing and structure of the show. Whether or not the streaming version includes a recap, I’m not sure, but hopefully it won’t be necessary.

Video
Narcos is presented in 720p 16×9 Widescreen 1.78:1 in this DVD set. I understand why this set exists, as there are people out there who may watch the show that don’t have the internet or even Netflix. For those that do, watch the series on there. It’s presented in 4k if you have the capability, with an obvious much better picture. For those without that option, the DVD set looks fine for 720p, with no defects or issues of note.
Audio
The audio on the DVD set is presented in 2.0 Dolby Digital. As above, if you have the ability, watch the show on Netflix, you’ll get much better sound.
Special Features
No extras are included on this set.
While I personally have never owned a physical copy of a Netflix original, there are certain benefits to owning the physical copy that ensures you’ll never lose one of your favorite shows for whatever reason. There are several shows I’ve been on the fence about owning, and after my enjoyment with this set, this will be one of them.
