We here at DigitalChumps love Kingdom Hearts. Not only has the entire franchise been a staple in many of our writers’ gaming career, but it has provided countless hours of discussion, laughter and joy. Although the series has been a staple through PlayStation’s history, with spinoffs finding home on Nintendo consoles, Kingdom Hearts has finally landed on PC. It would a herculean task to re-review each of the entries in the entire franchise.

Instead this is a great opportunity to point everyone to DigitalChumps’ reviews for all of the Kingdom Hearts games that have entered this HD generation. After you take a look at those reviews, head on back here for a breakdown on the additional PC features that have been added to these versions of the games!

I wrote in 2017 that Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 ReMix was, ” the most robust collection available to experience all of the Kingdom Hearts games. While difficult to recommend to those who have played the games before, the collection does offer a chance for long time fans to brush up on the story.”

Kingdom Hearts 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue was deemed, “a must play for any Kingdom Hearts fan, just for KH 0.2 alone. Not only is there a wonderful remaster of an underrated 3DS game, but players get their first opportunity to go hands-on with the gameplay for Kingdom Hearts 3.”

After more than a decade of waiting, Kingdom Hearts 3 released in 2019. In my review, I explained that, “Kingdom Hearts 3 delivers the conclusion to the story started nearly 20 years ago in extraordinary ways.”

Our own Sienna Douglas reviewed Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory, in which she concludes that Melody of Memory is, “an amazing way to pay tribute to not only the music of the series but also the story.”

Now that you’ve taken a look at what we’ve thought of each game in the franchise’s history, let’s dive into what’s to offer on the PC ports. Aside from the inclusion of keyboard support, the PC ports offer a plethora of welcome features including unlocked framerate, stereo audio and significantly faster load times compared to their console counterparts. Kingdom Hearts 3, the most graphically intensive of the series, offers the most menu options in terms of graphical settings including resolution scaling and FXAA + TXAA. Needless to say, those who are looking to experience the Kingdom Hearts franchise on their PC will find that these ports could easily be considered the best way to play them.
